My Hero Philanthropy teamed up with Matthew Zachary to turn our anger into an actionable contribution to his movement. Matthew has dedicated his life to improving outcomes and care for adolescents and young adults who survive cancer, and Hero Philanthropy is proud to join him as he fights for an American healthcare system that is more humane and just. As Matthew says: “Let’s do something with the mad we have.”

Chris Ciraulo:

Your story of inspiration and empowerment is just amazing. I want to thank you for your time. One of the things that Matthew asked about is the pin, and the iconic mark is the lotus flower. The reason the lotus flower is our iconic mark is because it is born in the dirtiest of waters, Matthew, and it blooms into the most beautiful flower that you could ever imagine. When we think about our patients, meaning P-A-T-I-E-N-T-S.

Matthew Zachary:

Yes, yes, yes, who have no patience.

Chris Ciraulo:

Who have no patience. When we think about our heroes and the mental darkness that some of them have gone through, like yourself, the story is compelling and amazing. That is what the lotus flower represents. Our goal with these interviews is for these stories of inspiration to be heard around the globe and to help other people who might be experiencing darkness and mental challenges.

With that, I’m going to ask you to close your eyes for 10 seconds, and we’re going to present you with a gift.

Matthew Zachary:

Okay.

Chris Ciraulo:

Hurry up, hurry up. Don’t look, don’t look.

Matthew Zachary:

It’s like hide and seek.

Chris Ciraulo:

You can open your eyes now.

Matthew Zachary:

Okay.

Chris Ciraulo:

We have another arm of our brand called Hero Philanthropy, where we like to give back. With that, we understand that you have a nonprofit called Stupid Cancer, which is a great name. We, as a team, collectively, would like to donate $1,000 to your organization to help others.

Matthew Zachary:

That’s incredible.

Chris Ciraulo:

With no further ado, it is our gift to you, and for the time that you took this morning to meet with us. You are amazing, and we appreciate your time. All right, Matthew?

Matthew Zachary:

Thank you. This is extraordinary.

Chris Ciraulo:

Yeah.

Matthew Zachary:

I can’t wait to let them know.

Chris Ciraulo:

Yeah, for sure.
